The Rising Of The Shield Hero: Rage Mode

 

Who doesn't love our banished noble shield hero Noafumi Iwatani? Like every other Isekai anime Tate no Yūsha no Nariagari (The rising of the shield hero) has its unique magic to hooking us right away from its first episode to binge-watching the rest of the episodes in a day. The depth of the show is truly amazing when it comes to its character development. We normally don't see a hero do merchandise to earn his living and struggle in a heart-wrenching way. In such a way the characters are plotted to connect with the audience to feel empathy, hate, happiness, and be loved. This show is beautifully crafted and touches on these profound themes. 

There are many important elements to discuss in this anime. However, we are here to discuss the power level of Noafumi, when he goes into rage mode.  

Since Noafumi has been shunned off from the castle, he doesn't get any missions to upgrade his Shield. When he killed Orange balloon monsters to earn points to upgrade he happened to know that whatever the creature, plant, or living thing that is fed into his shield can absorb its power and transform its shape accordingly. 

 

On his quest, Noafumi encounters all types of monsters and kills them with the help of Raphtalia and Filo. Airstrike shield, Shield Prison, Two-headed Dog Shield are his skills acquired in early episodes. 

Rage mode:

Naofumi never realized the potential of his true hidden powers. In his duel with the Spear hero first time he released the cursed seal without his consciousness and enter into rage mode but it was stopped when Raphtalia hugged him out his sorrow. 

Learning of a mysterious disease spreading through a village, Naofumi's party goes to investigate and finds out the disease began after Sword Hero Ren killed a Dragon nearby and left the body to rot instead of properly disposing of it. Suddenly the dragon resurrected and started to attack Naofumi when filo jumps onto the dragon it swallows her. Believing she would've died, triggers Naofumi's despair and rage to activate his cursed "Rage Shield". Which is almost burned Raphtalia before he comes to sense. 

In episode 11, After Wave has begun and the monsters from the sky terrorizing the village Noafumi join hands with the other heroes to defeat the Soul eater.  Naofumi resorts to using his Cursed Shield, but the Zombie Dragon's soul inhabiting the Shield is furious for Ren killing it and Naofumi incorporating it into his gear. In an attempt to takeover by his hatred, but Naofumi remembers his mission and regains control to use a new power to defeat the soul eater using his Iron Maiden.

Only those who can battle Noafumi and keep up are the heroes from the other world. After the fierce battle with L'arc, Theressa, and Glass, Noafumi understands Wave war is his least worries. In the Season finale, Noafumi is equipped with Soul eater Shield, which is the key to defeat the powerful attacks from Glass. It's still uncertain what Noafumi could unleash any more tricks with Shield, to know that we have to till Season 2. Season 2 is slated for release in October 2021.
